@_bbdaniels @Stata I was wrong. “<.” worse than “~=.” only aesthetically. (Requires you to remember how Stata calculates.) But functionally (which should matter more), “<.” is definitely better than “~=.” which fails with extended missing values. missing(•) is 💯: Legible and works for strings.
