@SarahJacobsonEc @jenniferdoleac We have basically exactly the same thing Sarah describes. Everyone asked to submit 2–3 names and coordinator aims to get 1–2 from each nominator. I think this winnowing is coordinator preferences, speaker availability, and some “quotas” (describes in next tweet)On twitter.com

@SarahJacobsonEc @jenniferdoleac We have a single departmental seminar, do coordinator tries to balance sub fields (and probably privileges invites to folks w broader research interests). We aim to get juniors and seniors. And our budget limits number of overseas invites since they tend to be much more $$$Permalink On twitter.com
