    I may not have been as clear as I’d intended: I think these online seminars are an important NEW institution (not the new important institution) 100% agree with @JoeVavra @joevavra/1249381917016850435 that they’re not substitutes for dept seminars, and expect in 5 years we’ll see both

      With development of greater comfort presenting online and watching presentations online, I think the ability of some to get a big audience (live + recorded) will grow, and the power to help convene that audience will be important @lukestein/1249364734698090496

        Actually 1000+ is probably the wrong number (there were VERY few forums for convening 1000 and probably will still be) But there were MANY for convening 20–100; I’m guessing we’ll see impt field-specific online series that draw 100–1000 (live+recordings) @paulgp/1249363997536772099
