    @arpitrage @Andrew___Baker @SHamiltonian @RPShah_econ I of course agree that the costs are high and the rationale is a LOT more complicated than some narrow, pure educational mission But there are plenty of places that justify a PhD prog with basically no expectation of ever (even occasionally) placing students in top faculty jobs
