@HWFencebreaker @causalinf Twitch is the online platform where Codechella is going to happen, but Scott you’re gonna need a way to get your live content (camera of you? slides? whiteboard? etc.) *to* Twitch. That’s gonna be hardware or software running at your house. 1/

@HWFencebreaker @causalinf There are different options, but @OBSProject—free, open-source streaming software—could be a great option. OBS (or other options) will let you record locally on your hard drive at the same time it’s streaming to Twitch. 2/

@HWFencebreaker @causalinf There are competitors to OBS, including software (like Streamlabs, which someone mentioned in your replies) and hardware devices. But you’re gonna need a way to get your content up onto Twitch, and what you choose will probably also offer you a recording option too. 3/

@HWFencebreaker @causalinf Then after Codechella you’ll have those video recordings and can decide what to do with them. Post them on YouTube (edited or unedited)? Make a VHS box set? Sky’s the limit. But I’d do your own recording at your house rather than just count on Twitch’s recordings. 4/

@HWFencebreaker @causalinf Happy to chat if useful, Scott, though tbh given comparative advantage and fact you have 1000s of participants, you really might consider bringing on an experienced producer. Could be someone at your house or a virtual producer. But you’re gonna have a bunch of moving pieces… 5/

@HWFencebreaker @causalinf …and an expert can help make sure you’re in good shape with mic, camera, internet bandwidth (Ethernet, not wifi, please!), or—if you want to be fancier—add graphical overlays during the breaks, etc. 6/6
