  1. Emergency retina surgery: ★★★★☆ No pain (🙌anesthesia!) but tbh not fun. Otoh your eye will hopefully see again! Avoid AAO conference, “where ALL of ophthalmology meets®” but actually only 19 of hospital’s docs go to Chicago so there’s 1 left👍 and you spend 3 days waiting👎

      Btw hospitals are VERY COLD especially when you’re never allowed to eat or drink in case they call you into surgery. All seems to have gone well in the end with a vitrectomy from my fantastic surgeons (attending and fellow).
