OK folks. Here’s my thread on technology for teaching online.🦠 I’m not an expert, but I’ve got some thoughts. My goal is to cover a few things you might consider if you’re trying to quickly get an existing course online. And my focus is on technology, not pedagogy. 1/ @lukestein/1226985053424508928

There are lots of ways of generating LaTeX output using @Stata. Even if an old favorite serves you well (like -estout- for me), new packages offer awesome, complementary functionality. I summarized the Stata-LaTeX workflows I know about here: (1 of _N) lukestein.github.io/stata-latex-workflows/

Important PSA: @Stata supports multiple missing values (not just “.” but also e.g., “.a”). Using “!=.” as a test for nonmissing values is NOT robust and is asking for trouble! (Using the popular “<.” is even worse.) PLEASE always use “~missing(•)” (even in joke tweets 😉) @causalinf/1089187721774579713

With comp/qual season coming up for some, thought I might post a link to my study guide in case it’s useful for anyone. Looking back at this suggests that in the intervening years my priorities have improved and my LaTeX skills have atrophied. lukestein.com/steincoresummary.pdf @grad_econ/1082656857389453315
